Indoor Environments
All the rooms at our nursery in Gloucester are large and expansive to ensure maximum opportunities for the breadth of our activities. It’s imperative to us that every child feels comfortable and secure, and our environments combined with our warm and loving staff team mean that we give that feeling to every child who is part of The Little People’s nursery family.
Each of our rooms is decorated in a natural palette that allows the equipment and resources to be the focus of the children’s time and attention – exactly as we know it should be. Our furniture is all Early Years specific and made of hardwood. We’ve put thought, effort and investment into our equipment and resources and we are confident in saying that every child who attends The Little People will be able to develop, grow and have fun.
Examples of the premium equipment we have are our Community Playthings Nursery Gym and our Dream Coracles. The Nursery Gym is a wooden structure that includes steps, a slide, a tunnel and a curved bridge. It gives our younger children so much fun and the perfect landscape for lots of imaginative games, whilst promoting physical development, encouraging new physical skills to be learnt, supporting social progression, and boosting confidence in capability.
Our Dream Coracles help our young children rest and sleep better than in other beds. They are very comfortable, and increase independence whilst sleeping – providing a higher level of security to the children than with sleeping alternatives. We also find they are loved by the younger children as cosy spaces for gentle and relaxing activities such as story time.
Outdoor Environments
Our outdoor environments are second to none. We have trees surrounding our garden providing ample natural shade and our spaces feature lots of wooden toys and equipment. Along with the lawns, shrubs and plants within the garden we have a very strong connection to nature at The Little People, and we see the benefits of this borne out in our children every day.
We have so many features in our outdoor spaces – a huge wooden climbing frame beloved by our older children, a big sandpit, a Mud Kitchen, a Sensory Garden, hard-standing areas for ride-on play, open lawns for free play, dens and cosy areas, wooden climbing equipment, a Growing Patch, and water play tables. Whilst we love how much stimulation, development and joy these features provide, we know that it’s the incredible feeling of the overall garden that is what works for the children, giving them peace, serenity and delight.
